DAC architecture and formats
Separate AKM DAC channels support a fully balanced signal path, with PCM and DSD compatibility sufficient for modern libraries. The implementation focuses on low noise and linearity rather than display-driven filter experimentation. Format ceilings are compatibility limits rather than automatic proof of sound quality. Implementation, output stage, clocking and noise performance matter more than playing the largest sample-rate number.
Headphone amplification and matching
Dual THX AAA 788+ modules provide substantial balanced power, with high and low gain for headphone matching. Sensitive IEM users should start on low gain and check channel balance at very low volume. Power needs depend on headphone sensitivity, impedance and listening level. Low output impedance benefits most modern headphones, while gain settings help balance sensitive IEM noise against demanding full-size models.
Digital inputs and source use
USB, optical and coaxial cover digital sources, while RCA analog input lets K7 act as a pure headphone amplifier for a phono stage or external DAC. Buy FiiO K7 for demanding wired headphones, balanced cables and a desk with multiple digital or analog sources. It also works as a preamp for powered speakers. Sofa control and wireless playback require another device.
