The Sony WF-C710N targets everyday use rather than a specification race. It combines active noise cancellation, ambient listening and multipoint with conventional SBC and AAC audio. That is a coherent package for commuting and desk work, provided it fits securely. Its merits should be judged by those practical tasks instead of assuming that a missing high-bitrate codec makes an earbud unsuitable for music.
Research-based review. This assessment examines manufacturer documentation and the product’s suitability for different systems. We have not carried out hands-on listening, laboratory measurements or a battery test of this model. Performance figures below are manufacturer claims, not independently measured results.
The basics are more important than codec prestige
Sony lists Bluetooth 5.3, SBC and AAC. There is no LDAC in the official codec list. That simplifies expectations: a compatible phone will negotiate a supported format, and an LDAC setting cannot unlock hardware or software support that is not listed for this model.
The earbuds use 5 mm drivers. Driver diameter alone cannot predict bass quantity, clarity or maximum clean output. The ear-tip seal, acoustic design and processing all matter. Start by selecting tips that seal without excessive pressure, then check whether walking or speaking loosens the fit before making judgements about tonal balance.
ANC and awareness for daily travel
Active noise cancellation and ambient-sound mode are documented, along with Quick Attention. These provide different ways to manage outside sound, but they cannot make a distracted listener aware of every hazard. On busy streets, choose an appropriate awareness setting and keep the listening level reasonable.
We have not tested the ANC on transport or the microphones in wind. The feature list therefore supports a commuting use case without proving a ranking against flagship Sony earbuds. Buyers upgrading from a premium model should not assume identical isolation or call processing from a shared manufacturer name.
Read the endurance figures in context
Sony specifies maximum continuous music playback of 8.5 hours with noise cancellation on and 12 hours with it off. Continuous communication is listed separately at up to 4.5 hours. A day of calls should not be planned around the longer music figure.
The earbuds are approximately 5.2 g each with medium tips, and the case is approximately 38 g. Sony gives about 1.5 hours to charge the earbuds and about 3.5 hours for the case over USB. These manufacturer figures help plan ownership, but do not establish a real-world result for mixed calls, music and repeated short charging sessions.
Multipoint and water resistance have boundaries
Multipoint is useful when alternating between two compatible sources, such as a laptop and phone. Test the actual meeting application and how notifications interrupt music during the return period. Connection availability does not guarantee that every device handles source priority in the same way.
The IPX4 rating addresses splash resistance of the earbuds, not swimming or a general promise that the complete charging package is waterproof. Dry the earbuds before placing them in the case. For frequent exercise, physical retention and comfort matter alongside the rating, especially when movement changes the seal.
What to expect in a real setup
Does WF-C710N support LDAC? Sony’s official specification table lists SBC and AAC. Do not confuse it with other Sony earbuds that do offer LDAC.
Can I expect 8.5 hours of calls with ANC? No. The 8.5-hour figure refers to maximum continuous music playback. Sony lists up to 4.5 hours of communication separately.

Verdict
The WF-C710N is easy to justify on a shortlist when everyday ANC and multipoint are the priorities. Its connection choices are clear and its maximum playback figures are useful planning information. Fit, call quality and actual endurance remain the checks that should determine the final purchase.
