LG S95TR Review

Ceiling height, side walls, seating distance and source mix strongly influence the result, especially for reflected height effects.

Subwoofer, rear channels and expansion

A wireless subwoofer and sophisticated rear speakers are included, making S95TR a complete purchase rather than a modular starting point. Each component still needs power and appropriate placement. Buyers should include the cost, power sockets and placement of every optional component when comparing systems. A complete package can deliver more convincing envelopment, while a single bar is simpler and visually cleaner.

Dialogue, calibration and everyday TV

AI Room Calibration Pro measures the space, AI Sound Pro adapts to content and Clear Voice Pro emphasizes speech. The centre up-firing channel adds another tool for anchoring voices near the screen. These features matter as much as spectacular demo scenes because most viewing contains speech. Calibration improves consistency but cannot fully overcome a highly open room or poor source mix; manual level adjustment may still be useful.

HDMI, formats and gaming

One HDMI input plus eARC supports 4K/120, VRR, ALLM, HDR10 and Dolby Vision passthrough. Dolby Atmos and DTS:X cover major immersive formats, though one source input is less flexible than Samsung’s two. eARC is the preferred connection for lossless Dolby Atmos from a compatible TV. Passthrough specifications matter only when sources connect through the bar; console owners should confirm 4K/120, VRR and HDR compatibility for their exact signal chain.

Music streaming and ecosystem

AirPlay 2, Chromecast, Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth support music. WOW Orchestra, WOW Cast and WOW Interface offer deeper control with compatible LG TVs. Ecosystem advantages can be substantial, but several branded features require a compatible television or additional speakers. Core HDMI behavior and format support should remain the deciding factors for mixed-brand households.

Installation and long-term value

S95TR includes its subwoofer and rears, so the package can undercut modular systems once all parts are counted. Its 2024-era platform is especially attractive when bundled or discounted with an LG OLED. Soundbars are room systems rather than isolated gadgets: width, wall mounting, ventilation, cables and wireless-speaker positions deserve planning. A premium model earns its cost when it replaces a more complex receiver system without sacrificing the features the household actually uses.

Who should buy it?

Choose S95TR if you want real rear speakers, strong gaming passthrough and close integration with an LG television. It suits medium-to-large rooms. Minimalist buyers and rooms without rear-speaker space should choose a single bar.

Samsung Q990D offers 11.1.4 channels and two HDMI inputs; Q990F is the newer refinement. Sonos Arc Ultra is more modular and music-centric, while LG S90TR reduces price and channel count.

Verdict

LG S95TR is a feature-rich complete cinema package with physical surround, five height channels and useful HDMI gaming support. Its LG-specific WOW features are bonuses rather than necessities. At the right sale price, it is a strong alternative to Samsung’s dominant flagship packages.
